IPHIS is the rice implementation of the International Crop Information System (ICIS) which is a database system that provides integrated management of global information on genetic resources and crop cultivars. This includes germplasm pedigrees, field evaluations, genetic (QTL) maps, structural and functional genomic data (including links to external plant databases) and environmental (GIS) data.

Searching IPHIS

The menubar above is the main Entry Point into IPHIS. It provides a simple way of getting into the database using simple text searches against specialized datasets or "views".

The procedure is as follows: first, select an Entry Point from the dropdown menu, then select a Constraint from the next dropdown box. If the Constraint you selected starts with 'by' you should type in a search string into the Search Text box stipulating an identifier that you'd expect to find in the index keys of a given dataset. The search text allows the use of wildcards '%' for one more characters and '_' for exactly one character.

The following table summarizes this for the various views.

Germplasm by Germplasm Name Cultivar name azuce%, IR64
Trait by Trait name Trait Descriptor %plant%, culm angle
